Dermatitis is the inflammation of the skin.
Water Treatments
- Starch bath, once a day.
- Use dry starch or gawgaw as powder if the skin is itchy and dry at night.
- Don’t use soap when taking a bath: take a starch bath instead. Don’t rub skin with towel to dry skin.
- Don’t scratch skin when itchy.
Herbal Medications
- Comfrey leaves (Scientific name: Symphytum officinale L.; English: Comfrey)
- Crush leaves and extract the juice. Apply the juice on the affected skin, 3 times a day.
- Balete bark (scientific name: Ficus stipulosa Miq. Linn.)
- Boil one cup of chopped bark in 1/2 gallon of water for 10 minutes. Wash area with this decoction, 2 times a day. This may be done instead of the starch bath.
- Kalatsutsi leaves (Scientific name: Plumeria acuminata Ait; English: Frangipani, Temple power, Graveyard flower)
- Get the sap from the trunk and mix with a few drops of oil. Apply directly on the affected skin.
- Kakawate leaves (Scientific name: Gliridia sepium (Jacg.) Steud)
- Crush 10 leave and extract the juice. Apply the juice on the itchy skin but do not rub. Apply as often as necessary for itchiness.
