Water Treatments for Illnesses

Below are links to water treatments with application to some common illnesses
just in case herbal treatments are not available or are not suitable to
patients or can be done along with herbal treatments.

Cold Compress
- a cloth wrung from cold or ice water which may be applied to any
part of the body surface.

Enema - the introduction
of water into the colon to stimulate bowel activity and to cleanse
the bowels.

Fever Sponge
Bath - a sponge bath given to a person with fever which
reduces fever or lowers body temperature.

Fomentation
- a local application of moist heat by means of cloth wrung from
boiling water or from steam tank.

Heating Compress
- a mild, prolonged application of moist heat of several hours
duration.

Hot Compress
- application of heat to a small area with hot gauze or hot compress
cloth.

Hot Foot Bath
- local immersion bath covering the feet, ankles and legs.

Hot SitzBath
- a partial immersion bath covering the pelvic and the anal areas.

Ice Pack - local
application of ice over a body segment.

Salt Gargle
- letting hot salt solution roll in the throat for a few seconds.

Starch Bath
- immersion bath in starchy water for a soothing effect.

Steam Inhalation
- Inhalation of warm, moist air into the mucous membranes and respiratory
tract.

Turpentine
Stupes - application
of turpentine and oil to the abdomen or joint, combined with moist
heat.
